Job Advert: Medical Laboratory Scientist at King Solomon Hospital, Lagos

Introduction

King Solomon Hospital is a reputable general practice hospital based on the mainland of Lagos. We are currently seeking suitably qualified candidates to fill the position of Medical Laboratory Scientist. The ideal candidate should be able to perform medical laboratory investigations requested by the clinical staff in the clinic and within the community.

Job Title: Medical Laboratory Scientist Location: Anthony, Lagos Employment Type: Full-time

Key Responsibilities The Medical Laboratory Scientist will be responsible for the following:

1. Sample Collection and Medical Laboratory Investigations:
   • Take samples and perform medical laboratory investigations requested by the clinical staff in the clinic and within the community.
   • Adhere to and practice use of universal precautions and proper waste management at the clinic.
2. Laboratory Supplies and Equipment Management:
   • Take inventory of laboratory supplies and ensure adequate stock levels for essential commodities.
   • Keep laboratory equipment operational and following the operating instructions.
   • Perform quality-control tests and calibrate laboratory equipment where applicable.
3. Data Management:
   • Document information and maintain daily logs and laboratory equipment record books.
   • Liaise with clinical staff for viral load sample collection and optimization for all clients enrolled into the program.
4. Other Responsibilities:
   • Maintain the confidentiality of clients and accord them dignity.
   • Undertake other activities as assigned by the Clinician and technical officer.

Qualifications and Requirements

The ideal candidate should possess the following qualifications and requirements:

• B.Sc. in Medical Laboratory Sciences (Compulsory)
• 1-3 years experience in a similar role.
• Effective Laboratory Quality Management System skills.
• Experience in public health and infectious diseases.
• Effective Laboratory data management and research literacy skills.
