Dell Scholars Program is a scholarship designed for students who may not ordinarily afford the cost of pursing a degree.

It supports them to do this with easy as it take care of the financial and other support system students usually need while pursuing a degree.

Number of Dell Scholars Program Awards

Nationally, 500 Dell Scholars are selected each year to receive a scholarship.

The $20,000 flexible funds can be used by Scholars for the many costs that arise during their college career.

The personalized, Multi-Faceted Support is for the academic, financial, and emotional life challenges that may prevent students from completing college.

Being that we are in a technology era, a laptop computer is included in what Dell Scholars are to benefit. This is essential technology for college success, including a 4-year warranty.

Textbook Credits: this is Chegg credits ($500 annually for 4 years) to be used for textbook purchases and rentals and/or textbook solutions.

Scholars Resource Network: this is resource connections for scholars and their families. This will enable beneficiaries of Dell Scholars Program to deal with stress, debt, and other life circumstances.

In addition to the above benefits, the Dell Scholars Program beneficiaries will have access to a teletherapy service that connects students to professional counseling.

Dell Scholars Program Scholarship Criteria

    • Applicants for Dell Scholars Program are expected to participate in a program-approved college readiness program in grades 11 and 12

  • They should also be on track to graduate from an accredited high school in the current academic year
  • In addition to the above requirements, they should also demonstrate a need for financial assistance
  • Dell Scholars should be eligible to receive a federal Pell Grant in first year of college.

Application date for Dell Scholars Program Scholarship

Dell Scholars Program Scholarship is a yearly scholarship. Below dates are when the application opens and closes every year. Included in the date are when semifinalists and winners (Dell Scholars) are announced annually.

We will let you know should there be a change in the date for any given year.

Targets – Who should apply?

Dell Scholars Program requires 2.4 grade point average. It targets low-income, highly motivated students who are better than their numbers indicate and demonstrate the drive to succeed despite personal obstacles.

The ideal candidate will demonstrate a unique “GPA” of grit, potential, and ambition in their quest for a college education:

Grit

by taking action to address or overcome personal challenges in their lives related to their families, schools, or communities

Potential

by participating in college readiness programs and seeking out academic rigor

Ambition

by preparing themselves and planning for their dream of graduating with a college degree. 

How to Apply

Click Dell Scholars Program Scholarship application website to complete the online application.

 

After submission, your application will be assessed and a group of semifinalists will be selected.

Semifinalists are asked to submit a current copy of their high school transcript, a complete Student Aid Report (SAR) from their FAFSA, and an online recommendation.

After the semifinalist information is submitted, all information is reviewed by an independent selection committee.

How is Dell Scholars Program Scholarship funded

The scholarship is designed to be flexible so that scholars can use award money for the many costs that arise during their college career.

The scholarship awards is to be used for funding tuition, fees, and full cost of attendance for undergraduate study.

It may also be used towards graduate school, loan repayment, study abroad, and internship stipends.

Which students at UT Austin will become Dell Scholars?

Through Dell Scholars Program partnership with The University of Texas at Austin, qualifying first-year students will become Dell Scholars.

Dell Scholars at UT Austin will be notified of their award with their initial financial aid package in March.

There is no separate application. To maintain eligibility, students must maintain full-time enrollment, remain in good standing, and complete a Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) each year.

Eligibility will be determined at the point of entry in their freshman year.

Once a student is included in the program, as long as they meet the continuing student criteria to remain in good standing, they will continue to receive program benefits.
