1. Northwestern University
Though a private institution, it’s nearly the best in Illinois. The main campus is located in the Chicago suburb of Evanston, the rest at different places of Chicago and outside the state (Miami, San Francisco and Washington).
It has lots of colleges like Medill School of Journalism and McCormick School of Engineering and Applied Science.

Formerly known as St. Ignatius College and founded in 1870 until it’s name was changed to Loyola University, it offers undergraduate, adult education, and graduate programs to students.
It has six campuses located in Chicago, others are in Rome, Beijing and Ho Chi Minh City. It has 71 percent acceptance rate, 74 percent graduate rate and 36 thousand dollars average cost after aid.
Loyola was founded by the Society of Jesus in 1870. One of the professional colleges is Loyola University Medical Centre that offers nursing, medicine and health sciences.
There about thirteen colleges and school in Loyola. And about 80 undergraduate programs; 140 graduate and professional programs. They take about 17000 students.
Since 1963 that Loyola won NCCA men’s basketball championship, it has remained the only school in Chicago to do so. Most of the alumni of the great school are executives of Chicago based corporations and great leader in politics.

University of Illinois is a public university that is research based such it is classified under among R1(Doctoral Universities).
It has large campuses, in fact its second campus is termed the largest university in the metropolitan area of Chicago. The first campus established is in the North West Side.
The University has up to 16 colleges and 33, 000 students.
Chicago College of Pharmacy established in 1859 inspired this vision. The school was officially established in 1982.
It is highly rated for the following courses: pharmacy, communication, nursing, law, education and public administration.
#5. llinois Institute Of Technology:
Founded in 1890 and based in Chicago, as the name implies, it offers undergraduate and graduate degrees in sciences, engineering, architecture, design, business, human sciences, applied technology and law. It majors on sciences. It is a private research based institution and the researches are technology-based.
Even though the root is as far back as 1890, its present name was adopted in 1940. The programs are spaced across science, architecture, business, communication, design, engineering, industrial technology, information technology, law and psychology. It is rated under R2 in Doctoral Universities.
It has about five colleges which are: Armour College of Engineering, College of Computing, Lewis College of Science and Letters, Chicago-Kent College of Law and College of Architecture. It has an institute called Institute of Design, also a school called, the Stuart School of Business.
Under the Armour College of Engineering, there are five departments: the Department of Computer and Electrical Engineering, Department of Mechanical, Materials, and Aerospace Engineering, Department of Civil, Architectural and Environmental Engineering, Department of Biological and Chemical Engineering, and the Department of Biomedical Engineering.

DePaul University is a private university that is not for profit and it’s one of the largest in USA. There are 10 colleges of education and more than 300 undergraduate and graduate programs.
The acceptance rate of DePaul University is 70 percent, the graduation rate 72 percent while the average cost after aid is 31 thousand dollars.
The school was founded in 1898 and named after a French priest Saint Vincent De Paul. It has two major campuses: the Lincoln Park and the Loop.
The Lincoln Park comprises of alot of colleges which are: College of Liberal Art and Social Sciences, Science and Health, and Education and the School of Music.
Also the Theatre School and the John T Richardson Library. But the Loop Campus comprises the college of Communication, Computing and Digital Media and the College of Law. Also it houses the School for New Learning and the School of Public Service.
